MOTHER'S HOLIDAY EXPO

The second annual Mother’s Holiday Expo will be held at Louisiana Technical College - Region 2 on Tuesday, December 15th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. This event invites mothers to take a break from the struggles of the holidays and get spoiled for a little while. This event helps make women aware of the benefits of asset building through fun activities. Everything is free and it is a oasis from the constant push to spend for approval during the holidays.

Individual Development Account Program Orientation

Update to the Individual Development Account Program 2009 Income Guidelines

 

You must have earned income and a qualified dependent to participate in the program.  If you are interested in participating in the Individual Development Account program you must bring:

 

1.   A copy of your 2008 Tax Return

2.  A copy of your drivers license or other state identification

3.  A copy of your 2 most recent paycheck stubs. 

4.  Proof that you have at least 1 dependent under 18 living in your residence (tax return; birth certificate, etc.)

 

The 2009 Income Guidelines are as follows:

For each additional person, add $7,480

Month-long: P.R.E.A.C.H. is pleased to kick off its Boys to Books Not Bars Literacy Campaign to recruit 1,000 men from all walks of life to become trained literacy coaches to at risk African American boys in grades k-3. P.R.E.A.C.H. believes bringing together the important resources of public libraries, community partners and a cultural appropriate awareness campaign of the effectiveness of literacy as evidenced by leaders in the community. A Pre-Holiday Budgeting class is scheduled for Tuesday, December 8th at Family Service of Greater Baton Rouge.

P.R.E.A.C.H. is a participating organization in the Alsen Environmental Health Fair, 601 Old Rafe Meyer Road, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 80807 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

P.R.E.A.C.H. is hosting its final 2009 Home Buyer class in Livingston Parish on Monday, December 14th at the Denham Springs - Walker Library from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Registration for these seminars is on a first come, first registration policy. P.R.E.A.C.H. will be hosting a monthly Louisiana Asset Building Coalition Individual Development Account Orientation at Louisiana Technical College - Region 2 on Tuesday, December 21st from 1:45 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Individual Development Accounts are a matched savings program for those interested in homeownership, education and entrepreneurship. This orientation is to learn the IDA Program qualifications and whether you would be interested in participating.

P.R.E.A.C.H. will be hosting a monthly Small and Emerging Business Networking Forum at Louisiana Technical College - Region 2 on Tuesday, December 21st from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The topic will be utilizing the Small and Emerging Tourism Commission. Current and future entrepreneurs are invited to attend this free networking opportunity. Pre-registration is highly recommended to insure receiving materials.

P.R.E.A.C.H. is hosting its final 2009 Home Buyer class in East Baton Rouge Parish class on Wednesday, December 23rd from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Eastside Fire Department, 15094 Old Hammond Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA 70816-1243.
